The Bastards had a fierce rivalry with the Sweepers, who protected the old families that were threatened by new wealth and power the Alchemists brought in. Their leader [[Lumacchio]] began to work even closer with the Alchemists after he contracted the Petrification Disease, taking orders directly from Simon Manus himself in exchange for a cure. Lumacchio was eventually defeated by Geppetto's puppet, leaving the Bastards leadersless. The Bastards were a group of Stalkers largely formed from members of nobility that had been ousted from succession. They took on "Honor, or Nothing" as their motto.
