Sophia Monad is the woman who awakens Geppetto's puppet and acts as an advisor and helper afterward. She has the ability to harness Ergo's power and uses this to help Geppetto's puppet become stronger.

Background

Sophia is the daughter of Valentinus Monad, the founder of the Alchemists, and Isabelle Monad, a prominent cultural sponsor in Krat. She had one sister, Lea. At some point she began to develop the ability to hear the voices of souls trapped in Ergo, a skill only available to Listeners. This made her very valuable to the Alchemists, who wished to study Listeners and develop their powers. However her mother Isabelle despised this ability and began to view her as an abomination.

Like the rest of her family she helped to run the Monad Charity House, which they established at the Rose Estate. The Monad Charity House functioned as both an orphanage and school and trained Stalkers, Alchemists, and Workshop technicians. Upon the outbreak of the Petrification Disease the Estate served as a safehouse and care center for the victims. Sophia continued to work there until Arlecchino massacred most of the Estate's residents, including her parents. After her parents death the Alchemists were taken over by Simon Manus, who was in love with Sophia and also coveted her Listener powers. She was then taken to the Isle of the Alchemists, where she was subjected to many experiments that left her immobile and in constant pain. Desiring to be free of this and to stop Simon, she reached out to Geppetto's puppet and awakened it.

Story

Sophia awakens Geppetto's puppet, telling it to come to Hotel Krat. As Geppetto's puppet advances to the hotel, Sophia warns him about the Parade Master blocking the path. After the Parade Master is defeated, Sophia then tells Geppetto's puppet that it'll need to lie in order to enter Hotel Krat due to the security system excluding Puppets. She greets Geppetto's puppet when it arrives, explaining the situation before giving it the Moonphase Pocket Watch. She continues to offer her information and guidance as Geppetto's puppet continues it's journey. After the Alchemists attack Hotel Krat, Sophia directs Geppetto's puppet to the survivors whom barricaded themselves in Geppetto's office. When Geppetto's puppet reaches the Isle of the Alchemists, she explains to it that it has been seeing a projection of her and that her real body is trapped on the island. Sophia begs him to find her and give her peace.

Endings

When Geppetto's puppet finds Sophia's real body, it has the choice whether to leave her as she is or to give her peace. Leaving her as she is will cause her to pass away naturally, with Gemini commenting that he can no longer feel her presence. Giving her peace will cause Geppetto's puppet to put it's hand to her chest and absorb her Ergo, allowing her presence to stay with it.

• If Geppetto's puppet gave her peace but then gives up its heart to Geppetto, Sophia's presence will ask it if this is really the future he wanted.
• If Geppetto's puppet gave her peace and refuses to give up its heart to Geppetto, it'll fight and defeat the Nameless Puppet, with Geppetto dying in the process. After the battle, Geppetto's puppet finds a blue haired Puppet and transfers Sophia's Ergo to it, resurrecting her. She opts to remain on the Isle of Alchemists for the time being, leaving the Blue Butterfly's Letter for Geppetto's puppet at Hotel Krat.
